Introduction to Outcome Mapping and Harvesting for desk officers
On November 2, 4 and 6 SMC will give an online introduction course to Outcome Mapping and Outcome Harvesting, for desk officers working for our member organisations, in Sweden and regional offices. The course will be held in English.
The course involves three 2-hour sessions online, with brief assignments in between to enhance learning. The sessions will be at 10-12 am on November 2, 4 and 6. Participants are expected to complete all three sessions, as well as homework. The sessions will be interactive and enable experience sharing. The expected participants are desk officers of SMC member organisations’ headquarters and/or field offices. The main facilitators are Learning Loop (Phil and Mariam Smith) with extensive experience of using these methods in the field.
More and more organisations show an interest in outcome-based approaches to planning, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and learning (PMERL). But what is an “outcome”? How do these methods work in practice? When is it appropriate to use them? What are the advantages and difficulties? These are some of the questions that will be brought up in the introduction course.
