Take Our Course on Religious Literacy

All people carry values ​​and beliefs that guide the way they work and that may come into conflict with other people’s beliefs. An increased awareness of this gives you religious literacy and equips you to better contribute to democratic development and a multicultural society.

Anyone can take the course, but we think it is particularly interesting for people who work with or study international development issues. The course is aimed at both believers and non-believers.

The course can be a way to develop skills for employees at faith-based and secular organisations who want to deepen their religious literacy.

The course consists of seven modules with texts, films and interactive parts in English that you can do on your own or in a group.

• Religious Literacy: An introduction
• Dogma or Development: The relation between faith and development
• One language or two: How to work with the language of faith and the language of human rights and development
• Identity: Who are we? How do others see us in this context? How do we describe ourselves?
• Our stories: The relation between who we are, how we act, and the narratives we share.
• Instrumentalisation: When others try to use religious actors for another agenda.
• Moving forward: How to navigate in a religious world.
